Held at Cheshire Game and Country Show
26-28th August 2017
Booking forms and carvers’ details to follow
The chainsaw carvers are amazing to watch! They use wood (sometimes huge bits) to produce beautiful carvings of up to 20 feet high. Each one becomes a sought after work of art.
At the end of the competition the carvings are put up for auction. Seeing wood carved into something beautiful – with a chainsaw is quite wonderful! The atmosphere – the sound – the smell. Without doubt, the 12th English Open Chainsaw Carving Competition will attract many visitors again.
Previous visitors have enjoyed chainsaw carving events and appreciated the skill and talent of each individual carver. There are three separate competitions over the three days:
Carvers get 25hrs carving time over the three days with logs of a 4ft diameter. This is where the big spectacular pieces are carved and although carvers mainly use the chainsaw they can finish off with any other tools they choose.
On Saturday carvers use chainsaws only (10hrs carving time) with logs up to a 2.5′ diameter. This can be finished using other tools on the Sunday and Monday (15hrs carving time)
Speed Carving Competition
12 – 12.30pm and 3-3.30pm Saturday and Sunday – both times followed by an auction and 12-12.30 Monday. Carvers have just 30minutes to produce a carving. Logs up to a 2′ diameter.
All carvings will be auctioned off, giving you a chance to take home a unique piece of artwork (delivery can be arranged)
